Dua and Phrases during Pregnancy

Dua and Phrases during Pregnancy

I was adviced by a number of people including my mom, my mother in law, my grandma and fellow mommy-to-be to recite a number of duas, phrases and surah throughout my pregnancy. Alhamdulillah, I am practicing it almost everyday and even Mr. Afif recites it everytime after performing solar together everyday. Alhamdulillah - my praises goes to Allah.

Yes, there are mothers who let their babies listen to classical music such as Mozart or Beethoven in order to stimulate their babies. However, as a Muslim, isn't it more beneficial if we let our babies listen to the beautiful phrases from Qur'an and it is more meaningful? I still remember during the month of Ramadhan, little munchkin kicked a lot while performin Tarawikh due to the Imam recited the holy Qu'ran. Alhamdulillah, little munchkin responded to it.

Here is the list of surah and phrases that we can practice throughout our pregnancy:
  • Surah Yusuf (12) : In order to have beautiful babies
  • Surah Luqman (31) : In order to have intelligent babies
  • Surah Maryam (19) : In order to have smooth delivery, soleh babies
  • Surah An-Nahl (16:78) : In order to have smooth delivery
It is He who brought you fourth from wombs of your mother when you knew nothing and He gave you hearing and sight and intelligence and affections : that you may give thanks to Allah
  • Surah Yassin (36)
  • Ayattul Kursi
Allah! There is no God Save Him, The Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaken Him. Unto Him belongs whatsoever in the heavens and whatsoever is in the erath. Who is he that intercede with Him save by His leave. He know that which is in front of them and that what is behind them, while they encompass another of His knowledge save what He will. His throne include the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.
  • Surah Al-Araaf (7:189)
He it is who did create you from a single soul, and therefrom did make his mate that he might take rest in her. And when he covered her she bore a light burden, and she passed (unnoticed) with it, but it became heavy they cried unto Allah, their Lord, saying :if thou give us unto us alright we shall be of the thankful.
  • Surah Al-Imran (3:8-9, 3:38)
(They say) : "Our Lord! LEt not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower"
Our Lord! Verily, it is You will gather mankind together on the Day about which there is no doubt. Verily, Allah never breaks His Promise.
At that time, Zakariya invoked his Lord saying : "Oh my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation "
  • Surah Ibrahim (14:40) : In order our children always perform solat
"Oh my Lord! Make me one who perform As-Salat and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! and accept my invocation"
  • Surah Al-Baqarah (1:128) : In order to have our children obey Allah
"Oh Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, show us our Menasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage - Hajj and Umrah, etc..) and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One who accepts repentance , the most Merciful."
  • Surah As-Sajadah (32:7-9)

It is He who created everything in the best manner and began the creating of the human being from clay.
He made His offspring come into existence from an extract of insignificant fluid.
then He gave it proper shape and blew His spirit in it. He made ears, eyes and hearts for you, but you give Him very little thanks.
  • Surah Al-Furqan (25:74) : In order to have well behaved children and happy beautiful family
Then pray, "Lord! let our spouses and children be the delight of our eyes and ourselves examples for the pious ones."

And to Allah we turn to
